Fear of the unknown. Everyone faces it at some point in life, but we are experancing a lot of it right now. There are a lot of things we still don’t know about this move and as a person who likes everything to be planned that’s a little hard for me. I love knowing all the things coming my way and having a plan for everyone of them. This move is a major stretch for me in that department because I will never have all the details. I will never be able to plan the way I would like to.
I know some of these things will be solved as we move closure to our departure, but some of these things I really won’t know till I’m knee deep in them. That’s a hard one for me to stomach and so far I’m solving it by making endless (and only sort of helpful) lists. You see I LOVE lists. Lists make me happy, lists comfort me, I particularly love checking things off of lists. David is just like me in this department, we are two peas in a pod. To cope with our joint anxiety we are doing some pretty epic list making on a daily basis.
I have a feeling that fear of the unknown and facing that fear is going to be a bit of a theme for both of us on this adventure. This theme will I think at this point result in a pretty regular blog post series. I hope you all like reading about the things that keep me up at night! The list currently includes: housing (it’s provided but that’s all I know about it), is the house furnished and if so how much, what are we taking and how will we pack it all, what’s the neighborhood going to be like, will I learn enough Arabic to get by, how will I buy groceries, I love my milk delivery service here will I find anything like it, and a million other mundane things, but I’m sure you are all already tired of this.
Anyway you should all be looking forward to a series of posts on of these topics and many others things I haven’t thought of yet!
